Across four days and four nights, you'll experience eight unique themes that invite you to step outside your comfort zone, embrace your individuality, and fully immerse yourself in The Groove Effect.

But as you start planning eight unique looks for four days and four nights at sea, we invite you to think beyond fast fashion and embrace a more sustainable approach to festival style.
The reality is that festival fashion culture has increasingly shifted toward a "new event, new outfit" mindset. While dressing up is a huge part of the Groove Cruise experience, constantly purchasing new clothing can create significant environmental impact. The fashion industry is one of the world's largest polluters, generating billions of tons of carbon emissions annually, while millions of tons of textiles end up in landfills each year. Many of those synthetic fabrics also release microplastics that eventually make their way into our oceans.
As a community that spends four incredible days surrounded by the beauty of the sea, protecting the environment we call home is something we can all help support.
The good news? Sustainable fashion doesn't mean sacrificing creativity.
Some of the most memorable Groove Cruise outfits come from repurposed pieces, thrifted treasures, handmade creations, clothing swaps, rental services, and outfits reimagined from previous festivals. Whether you're designing a one-of-a-kind Cyberpunk Vice look, bringing a vintage-inspired Retro Splash & Sass outfit to life, or creating your dream Lost In Neverland costume, there are countless ways to participate while reducing waste.
That's why Groove Cruise continues to support initiatives that encourage circular festival fashion, including Raveivals’ Treasure Hunt, a onboard secondhand festival fashion swap that will take place onboard. Captains can bring pre-loved festival outfits, earn tokens based on quality and creativity, and exchange them for new-to-you pieces from fellow members of the #GCFAM community. It's a fun, community-driven way to refresh your wardrobe while giving incredible outfits a second life at sea.

You can expect eight themes total – one for daytime and one for nighttime each day – aligned with the 8 Waves of the Groove Effect. The 2027 themes are: Represent, Lost In Neverland, Naughty By Nature, Cartoons Gone Wild, Flamingle, To The Moon, Retro Splash & Sass, and Cyberpunk Vice.
Participation isn’t mandatory, but it’s highly encouraged. Dressing up amplifies the energy on board, helps you connect with other Captains, and immerses you fully into the Groove Cruise experience. Most attendees dress up for both day and night themes.
We made Pinterest boards for each of the eight themes to give you inspiration! We like to get creative on creating iconic looks, DIY creations, and full-blown costume builds. Popular outfit sources include festival wear designers, Etsy creators, rave boutiques, and your own imagination.
No worries, you’ll still have an amazing time! Some guests pack extras, and occasionally pop-up shops onboard offer accessories and themed items. But bringing your own costumes ensures you’re fully prepared to ride all eight waves.
Plan for eight unique looks, one for each daytime theme and one for each nighttime theme. Many Captains also bring backup outfits, mix-and-match accessories, or variations if they want flexibility. This is great to make your outfits more sustainable for both the planet and yourself.
