How Groove Cruise Themes Work

Every sailing includes eight themes total: a daytime theme and a nighttime theme for each of the four days onboard.

Dressing up is more than a tradition, it's the heartbeat of the ship! The more you participate, the more connected, energized, and fully immersed you become in the experience. Pack early, plan big, and prepare to unleash your alter ego from sunrise to sunset.

What are the themes for Groove Cruise 2027?

The official 2027 themes will be announced closer to the sailing. You can expect eight themes total – one for daytime and one for nighttime each day – aligned with the 8 Waves of the Groove Effect. Stay tuned for the official reveal so you can start planning your looks.

Do I have to dress up for the themes?

Participation isn’t mandatory, but it’s highly encouraged. Dressing up amplifies the energy on board, helps you connect with other Captains, and immerses you fully into the Groove Cruise experience. Most attendees dress up for both day and night themes.

Where can I get ideas for Groove Cruise outfits?

You can browse past themes above for inspiration or check out Groove Cruise social media channels and Pinterest where we share iconic looks, DIY creations, and full-blown costume builds. Popular outfit sources include festival wear designers, Etsy creators, rave boutiques, and your own imagination.

What if I forget my costumes?

No worries, you’ll still have an amazing time! Some guests pack extras, and occasionally pop-up shops onboard offer accessories and themed items. But bringing your own costumes ensures you’re fully prepared to ride all eight waves.

How many costumes should I pack for Groove Cruise 2027?

Plan for eight unique looks, one for each daytime theme and one for each nighttime theme. Many Captains also bring backup outfits, mix-and-match accessories, or variations if they want flexibility. This is great to make your outfits more sustainable for both the planet and yourself.

Are the themes the same every year?

No. Groove Cruise curates new, imaginative, and over-the-top themes for every sailing, making each year a fresh universe of creativity.
