The Groove Cruise Captain’s Guide: Dos, Don’ts, and Community Values

On Groove Cruise, every captain (that’s you!) is part of what makes this festival cruise feel so special. For over 20 years, our community has thrived because of something deeper than just the music. It’s the unspoken agreement to look out for each other, show respect, and keep the vibes alive from embarkation to the final sunrise set.

The GCFAM is known as some of the friendliest, most inclusive, and respectful people in the music scene. Whether you’re a first-time cruiser or a seasoned veteran, here’s a refresher on the Groove Cruise dos and don’ts that help protect our culture and keep the experience unforgettable for everyone onboard.

Groove Cruise DOs ✅

  • Do respect personal space. The ship is your dancefloor, but it’s also your fellow captains’ home for the weekend. Be mindful of boundaries, whether you’re at the pool deck stage or in a crowded elevator.

  • Do look out for each other. If someone seems like they need water, rest, or a friend, step in. Groove Cruise is built on community.

  • Do pace yourself. With music going 24/7, it’s tempting to go non-stop, but taking breaks, eating, and sleeping will help you last all cruise long.

  • Do join meetups and activities. From themed parties to interest-based gatherings, these are amazing ways to connect with other captains and make lifelong friends.

  • Do embrace inclusivity. Our community spans all ages, all backgrounds, and all identities. Everyone is welcome on Groove Cruise.

Groove Cruise DON’Ts ❌

  • Don’t be aggressive or violent. Groove Cruise is a safe environment where everyone should feel comfortable. Zero tolerance for fighting.

  • Don’t take what isn’t yours. Theft goes against the GCFAM spirit. If it’s not yours, don’t touch it.

  • Don’t overdo it. Party responsibly. Take advantage of free water stations and rest when you need to.

  • Don’t exclude others. Groove Cruise thrives on inclusivity! Invite people in, don’t shut them out.
  • Don’t forget to read the room. Keep it respectful! This is a shared space. If you realize that you or a friend are acting in a way that’s making others feel uncomfortable, try taking a quick time out. Your stateroom is just around the corner!

Tips to Maximize Your Experience

  • Pack creatively. Costumes are part of the magic! Get into the themes and express yourself.

  • Explore beyond the music. Try artist-hosted activities, destination excursions, and the wellness offerings onboard.

  • Capture memories, but stay present. Photos and videos are great, but don’t forget to dance, connect, and live in the moment.

  • Respect the crew. From bartenders to ship staff, they make Groove Cruise possible. A smile and a thank you go a long way.

Why Groove Cruise Feels Different

Unlike most festivals, Groove Cruise is 96 hours of non-stop music, friendships, and unforgettable adventures at sea. But what truly sets it apart is the GCFAM, a community that has grown over two decades with values of love, respect, and connection at its core.

By following these simple Groove Cruise community guidelines, you’ll not only maximize your own experience but also help keep the magic alive for everyone on board.

So grab your sailor hat, pack your costumes, and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime.
