Whet Foundation

Groove Cruise is about so much more than music. It’s also about making a positive impact. Through Whet Foundation’s Destination Donation initiative, Captains have the opportunity to give back to the communities we visit. For Groove Cruise Miami 2026, our efforts will directly support children in need in the Bahamas.

This year, donations will benefit Ranfurly Homes for Children and the Boys & Girls Club of The Bahamas, two organizations dedicated to providing safe spaces, education, mentorship, and essential care for local youth. By contributing items such as toiletries, food, clothing, and school supplies, you’ll be helping to empower these children and support their education and well-being.

How You Can Get Involved

· Bring Donations Onboard: Drop off your items at the Captain Support Desk on Day 1 of Groove Cruise Miami 2026.

· Volunteer in Nassau: Join us for the Destination Donation trip, where you’ll help deliver supplies, connect with the kids, and share in activities like art and music. Many Captains describe this experience as the most meaningful part of their Groove Cruise journey. Volunteer sign-ups are open October 3 – December 12, 2025 through your Whet Travel account.

Together, the GCFAM can make a lasting difference, and ensure our time in Nassau leaves a positive effect that goes far beyond the dancefloor.

Island Culture

Nassau is rich in history and tradition. From colorful Junkanoo costumes to the rhythms of Bahamian music, every corner of the island pulses with culture. Embrace the warmth of the locals, savor fresh conch fritters, and soak in the lively Caribbean atmosphere that makes Nassau so remarkable.

Junkanoo is the national cultural festival of The Bahamas and the Caribbean’s purest expression of celebration and community, dating back to the beginning of the nineteenth century. Months of costume-making, rehearsals, and musical mastery all lead into explosive nights where creativity, performance, and rhythm collide. Imagine a midnight parade bursting with color, thunderous drums, cowbells, horns, and dancers in towering, hand-crafted costumes. Even when it’s not parade season, you’ll see Junkanoo’s influence woven throughout the city’s art, music, and spirit.

For Groove Cruise Captains, it’s the perfect parallel! You feel the same communal drive, the same electricity, but now in the heart of Bahamian culture.

Shopping & Essentials

Forgot to pack sunscreen, an outfit, or festival accessories? Nassau has you covered. With plenty of shops right near the port and throughout town, it’s the perfect chance to grab essentials or score unique souvenirs to bring a piece of the Bahamas home with you.
